ETHAN MAY
COLUMBIA — Last April I wrote about how my generation may deal with or inspire change. I used comparisons to the 1960’s to give the situation context. Some of these questions very well may be answered on this campus in the next few weeks.
In the past, people would keep the front page of newspapers that featured historic events. Those days have gone by, so we find ourselves screen capping web pages of big events. The top of this post has screen shots from some of the biggest sources of news in the United States as well as some local publications. All of them are covering this story.
It’s almost ironic. One of the nation’s best journalism schools has found itself in the world news spotlight.
Society as a whole can only hope that this added attention helps bring justice and peace to those who are in need.
I wrote this as a big-picture view of recent events, not as any sort of statement.
